How can selling rune essences be a good money-making skill? Well, they are worth around 35gps a piece and selling them is a good strategy to use when it comes to making a little sum of cash. Although they are very easy to obtain, selling them for a measly 35gps each isn’t going to get you far. The real secret is what you can do with the rune essences. Runecrafting. That’s right. Many players in Runescape are mages, and so they’ll need a decent supply of runes. This is why they’ll runecraft for the runes instead of having to spend money for them. However, runecrafting is considered to be a long and hard skill to train. Many high level runecrafters are able to craft a single rune essence into multiple amounts of runes and profit off of them. What this means is that if your runecrafting level reaches a certain level, you’ll be able to craft multiple runes with just 1 single rune essence. For example, let’s say that your runecrafting level is 28. You would be able to make 3 mind runes with just only 1 rune essence. So, instead of just selling 1 rune essence for 35gps, you could sell the 3 mind runes for around 60gps, over 3 times as much. Although it would take more time for you to mine the rune essences and then crafting them, it would gain you more runecrafting exp and save you extra trips to the rune essence field. This is why the higher your runecrafting level is, the more time you’ll be able to save yourself. Another idea you could use is to buy rune essences for 20-40gps each from other players and then craft them at a rune altar and resell them. Of course,this method will save you the trip to the rune essence field but you won’t be able to make as much money.
